Well look no further because we have quite a post for you today on a special Charleston bachelorette party theme and other party ideas. This past spring, I had the pleasure of being apart of a “mock” bachelorette party with some fabulous Charleston vendors, including our host, Randi Nuorala of Kay & Co Weekends. She has put a few steps together for the perfect how to: Charleston Bachelorette Party.
How To: Charleston Bachelorette Party
- Find somewhere for your flamingo to float: the perfect pool
I knew we needed an amazing location for our pool party, so I asked our friend MaryJo of @port2palm if I could borrow her gorgeous Isle of Palms beach house for the day. She was happy to help if it involved pool floaties (of course), so we were ready to party. The pool and cabana at the house combined with the five-minute walk to the beach were the ideal setting for a group of girls to gather and celebrate.
- Keep it bright: decorate and accessorize
I wanted the vibe to be bright and beachy, but the house was already so pretty that I knew I didn’t need much. Inspired by the palm trees that surrounded our pool deck, I chose vibrant, tropical colors with a splash of gold as our color scheme. I asked my friend and local bossbabe Ali of Fetes de Fleurs to help me with the florals around the pool, complete with towering palm leaves and arranged in DIY gold glitter vases. A tassel garland and balloons from Teacups & Trucks were a colorful backdrop to the champagne and dessert bar, while gold, glittery signs from Dodeline Design reminded us to throw confetti & pop champagne. Our desserts and signature cocktail were all bright pinks, purples, and blues, and we used a pale pink Turkish towel from Charleston Weekender to tie everything together. Finally, a few well-placed pineapples completed the tropical vibe and made for a fun snack later in the day.
- Make your own floral accessories (and be a real life Snapchat filter)
Every bride wants something to make her wedding unique, and why shouldn’t that apply to the bachelorette party, too? To help us with making our pool party really memorable, we needed a fun activity that the girls could do as a group. Fun fact: Fetes de Fleurs also has flower crown classes! The girls drank champagne while Ali showed them how to make their own floral crowns, then set them free to see what they came up with. Each girl made something completely different, but they all looked gorgeous in their flower crowns and we were able to get lots of cute, unique photos of the ladies in their handmade accessories. Mission accomplished!
- Get creative with your cocktails: pink bubbles make a party
In keeping with our pink theme, I wanted a pink signature cocktail to serve the girls while they were working on their tans. Champagne was a necessity – it’s not a celebration without a few popped bottles! To create a colorful drink, I whipped up a raspberry simple syrup the night before our pool party and added it to the champagne right before serving, then tossed in a few floating blackberries and a hint of thyme for even more flavor. Our blackberry sparklers were the perfect accent –and all that fruit means this was basically a smoothie. Healthy, right?
- Stay sweet with bite-sized treats (because sugar cookies make for the cutest photos)
No party is complete without a few sweet treats, of course, but a full cake would have melted out by the pool. Enter girlboss Ashley of ABCD Cake Make – she used her baking magic to create the most adorable sunglasses sugar cookies for us, plus a batch of her Charleston-famous macaroons, hand-painted with tropical flowers and colorful details. Organic cotton candy from Pure Fluff added to our sugar-filled table and was also delicious in our blackberry sparklers while strawberries, blueberries, and blackberries rounded out our collection of sweet treats.
- Bring your besties: it’s not a party without your babes!
Last but not least, I gathered up a great group of girls to celebrate! For our festivities, Sirena of Aneris Photography captured our poolside cheers-ing while Kelly of Paper Meets Pearl tested the flamingo floatie, Cayleigh of The Petal Report mixed drinks, and local friends Margo and Tara crafted floral crowns. We kept our group small for a more intimate celebration, but the versatile vibe of a pool party invites infinite possibilities.
A few colorful details and a fabulous group of girls really can make for the best day ever – throw in a flamingo floatie and who wouldn’t want to celebrate their bachelorette by the pool? Pink bubbly drinks, sweet handmade treats, and a creative group activity take the festivities to the next level so you can say “cheers!” to your besties and always remember an amazing day celebrating a lovely bride-to-be.
